Stories

Stories are wondrous wonderful things,
They make you think and feel and want to sing.
Stories you love,
And stories you hate,
That get you engaged right out of the gate.
I love a good story,
There is no doubt.
How will it end?
There’s one way to find out.

Opinions

I like what I like,
I don’t what I don’t,
Don’t tell me what to do,

Because listen I won’t.

Addiction

Addiction

I keep my head down,
Walk in the other direction,
Put in earphones and turn up the music to the max.
But no matter where I go,
How loud I blast the noise,
I can always hear him.
He is always there.

Begging me to come to him,
Saying that he loves me more than anyone else.
That he would never hurt me.
Lies.
I know.
But the temptation is too strong.
He whispers sweet promises in my ear.
I can’t resist anymore.
I need him.

With outstretched arms I run to him.
Like I always do.
As he knew I would.
Because I’m weak.
A smile stretches across his face as he wraps his arms around me.
In a chokehold.

And promises that he will never leave me for as long as I live.

Moonbeams

I cast off from the shore, the gentle breeze playfully tossing my hair and filling the sails pushing me through the water. As I steer my little boat I gaze up at the night sky, so full of stars that speak of adventure, and wonders, and bravery. Their patterns painting swirling pictures and stories, as though they were whispering the most precious of secrets, if only you could hear. My little boat glides through the shimmering moonlit water towards the horizon, as it should have done long ago. Closing my eyes, I inhale the crisp, salty night air and feel flecks of sea spray tingle against my skin. Strangely I don’t feel cold, nor warm. Just a fluid kind of calm, like the sparkling water, or the shimmering moonlight. I feel at peace with the world, and know that whatever happens, that it’s okay. Nearing the edge of the horizon I don’t look back, only up into the smiling face of the moon, bathing my face in it’s rays. Smoothly my little boat sails right off the edge of the horizon, in amongst the twinkling stars and ink black sky, sailing along the moonbeams. In a sleepy sort of way I remember how we would talk and dream of sailing to the moon together, on those beautiful hope filled nights. You always loved the idea. I can hear the stars now. Like little bells in a soft breeze, I hear their secrets. The moon is close now. Almost as if I could...
I touch it. I touch the moon. I step up onto it’s shore. Lay down. And bask in the Earthlight.

Without you.

Colours

Red, Blue, Grey, Green,
Every colour you’ve ever seen.
Orange, Yellow, Purple, Pink,
So many colours it’s hard to think.

Swirling, curling, buzz stop go,
Shrinking, growing, glowing, woah.
Confuse, bemuse, ignite, defuse,
Colours, colours, crash bang boom!

Breathe

Sometimes I forget to breathe,
A crushing weight holds me down,
Leaving me behind to seethe,
Hunted by relentless hounds.

Waves of anger pull me from the shore,
A deadly torrent, a raging wall.
It leads me on towards a war,
I cannot fight it, I can only fall.

Endless thoughts of despair,
Cage me in their deceiving hands.
Left with nothing, but to prepare,
I long to escape too far of lands.

On and on, my heart it breaks,
And I am left without my life.
This unending torment, anguish it makes,
No rest, nor might, only strife.

Yet in this darkness, far away,
Beyond my troubles and profanity,
A light, it glimmers, clear as day,
Saving me from my own insanity.

Lurching forwards, broken, yet strong,
I call on my strength, up from the depths,
Reaching for the light, were I belong,
I expand my lungs, and take in a breath.

Light

Everything is in shades of grey,
It used to be black and white,
Not anymore.

Thing have changed, and nothing can be done,
No matter how hard I try,
It all comes undone.

This crushing weight surrounds me,
Holding me under with no end in sight,
Suffocating me.

When I fall, I fall farther than ever before,
The glass ceiling is getting higher and higher,
And I can’t see it anymore.

This horrible feeling of helplessness never leaves,
Will I ever be good enough?
Or will I just fail.

I don’t know anymore.

Yet amongst this swirling vortex of death,
A light appears in the distance,
Begging me to find it.

It is so hard to grasp it tight,
It moves farther and farther away,
Impossible to find.

But not.

You see, that light I feel in the dark,
It is not just a light,
It is hope.

And no matter how far or distant that light seems,
The fact it is there is all that matters,
All that waits is for me to grab it.

And hold on.
